Throughout our 20 plus years in business, we’ve performed many charity events for many different organizations: Brides against breast cancer, March of Dimes, Caretakers of cancer patients, and any time a friend or family member needs help and we can either provide equipment or music. I’ll be honest, in the beginning, I did look at these events as a way to network my business or show that I can “do the right thing” and people will notice. Then you become humble and more thankful….
Once you realize as a business owner that it’s not about you, it is amazing what happens when you give back! When you make it about the person that you’re working for or doing charity work for, it makes every minute worth it. Not only are you truly helping someone, you are GIVING! Give, give, give, and you will receive. The universe will take notice.
And you never know when a charity event that you’re providing service for will directly affect you! Earlier this year, we provided DJ and Uplighting Services for the Prom for Premies, which is a March of Dimes fundraiser. Several months later, my wife and I were blessed with baby Luke who arrived at 30 weeks! He was just 3 lbs, and spent a month in NICU at UConn hospital. He is now doing wonderful thanks to the hero nurses there. Talk about Karma!!
Remember, every time you get a chance to provide services for a charity, and you’re not booked already, do everything you can to help out. You will be helping to raise money for someone else, or a group of people who really need the help. Getting a chance to truly help someone improve their life while using your talent and abilities-there is no better feeling in the world!
