One of the most underrated and necessary wedding expenses is having a good planner! So many times we have seen couples try to take on the job of decorating, coordinating, and basically doing everything for their wedding! The DIY yourself couple right-isn’t it a blast to plan your own wedding? In the movie “The Wedding Planner” with Jennifer Lopez, it sure looks glamorous and fun doesn’t it? Like most Hollywood movies, it doesn’t show the behind the scenes details that no one looks forward to handling. In talking with our preferred wedding planner Lisa Antonecchia from CCBL, she meets DIY brides all the time, mostly after their wedding, and hears of all kinds of “I wish I would have spent the money on a planner” stories. Too often couples rely on family members to handle the details. And sure enough, these family members and friends end up missing important parts of the ceremony and reception. Who wants to miss any of that? All in the name of saving a few dollars- it’s not worth it! There are so many things to think of like meals, decor, hiring vendors, coordinating vendors, and how about simple stuff like seating your guests, staying in touch with the kitchen and calling up tables for meals?? How about the possibility of wacky weather for your ceremony or outdoor wedding?? It is New England…. Oh you haven’t thought of this right? Well, I know that most of you have been a guest at a wedding when there was clearly no coordination or planning and you’re wondering when is the meal going to be served? It’s been an hour! And as a guest, you can just sit at your table and observe that things are clearly not functioning well behind the scenes….
As DJ’s, we are not wedding planners or wedding coordinators. Couples hire us to handle the ceremony, music, lights, intros, etc. But what’s happened to us in the past is that couples decided not to budget for a planner/coordinator, so we end up becoming the planner! Do you want your plumber stringing electrical wire in the walls of your house? Didn’t think so. Moral of the story: hire a planner! We do happen to work very closely with a fabulous wedding planning/designing company: Creative Concepts by Lisa. They will ensure all of the details are covered-everything! They also happen to be a company that works well with other vendors, which is something that not all wedding planners can do. By hiring a planning company like CCBL, your “behind the scenes” details will be covered flawlessly-you won’t even know they are there and neither will your guests. This leaves you and your husband/wife to enjoy the evening with each other and your guests, and not have to worry about any of the nitty gritty stuff. Hope this helps and thanks for reading!
