So this is a topic that we need you to weigh in on and give their opinions! Do you like the idea of having line dances at weddings (Cha-Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, etc) or do you think it’s silly?
This is a controversial topic from couple to couple and person to person. From our experience in the wedding industry, there is no cut and dry answer to this. Many of our couples think that line dancing at weddings is a great way to move people on the dance floor and create a fun atmosphere at their wedding, and the other half of our couples think it’s just straight up silliness.
So here is our opinion as DJ’s-it’s almost never a bad idea to have at least one line dance for your wedding. As corny as some of our clients think it is, line dancing is a great way for your DJ to get some crowd participation on your dance floor. It’s not the only way to get the crowd involved, but it’s a very good tool in our toolbox; I’d be lying otherwise! With that said, if our couples request no line dancing at their wedding, we absolutely honor their request. After all, they are paying us good money to perform for their wedding! I always believe in honesty though, which is why I also tell those same clients that some of their guests will undoubtedly request a line dance or two, despite the bride and grooms requests to not play them at all. In the end, we believe in respecting our bride and grooms wishes to not play the song. We simply tell the guests that the bride and groom has requested to not play line dances. My next comment is “hey what other dance song can I play for you that’s gonna make this dance floor sweat?”
